Small Gods
In the mid 20th century the birth of the nuclear age triggered an arms race the likes of which had never been seen before. From Los Alamos to Semipalatinsk scientists worked to craft atomic weapons that would wreak havok on their enemies, destroy their cities and cement the supremacy of those who wielded them. With successful tests on both sides of the iron curtain the terrifying capacity for violence ushered in an era of cold war tempered by the fear of mutually assured destruction.
In the early 21st century the birth of the craft beer industry triggered an IPA arms race the likes of which had never been seen before. From London to Los Angeles brewers worked to craft beers that would wreak havok on their customers senses, destroy their palates and cement the supremacy of those who brewed them. With successful double IPAs being brewed around the world the terrifying capacity for bitterness ushered in an era of craft beer innovation tempered by the fear of bland and flavourless beer.
This Double IPA has been brewed to celebrate the heady heights of the IBU arms race when clean and hoppy beers reached their logical conclusion. Brewed with a classic combination of Cryo Citra, Amarillo, Cascade and Centennial hops this beer delivers a massive, oily and resinous hop hit backed up by a huge and assertive bitterness that lingers on the palate. This bitterness is supported by a rounded malt character and enhanced by the caramelisation of a 2 hour boil.
