Beauty defiled as they descended from light to darkness. A grim bottomless abyss made of shadow. Hell at last, yawning, received them whole, and on them closed. Satan’s rival kingdom forged.
The Fall is the second beer in our Satan trilogy, following on from Satan Satan Satan. A Belgian Dubbel, a complex, rich, malty traditional ale. The Dubbel sits in the pantheon of traditional Belgian ales and is brewed with twice the amount of malt that you would usually find in an Abbey Single, hence the name. Dubbels are darker in colour than their Single and Tripel counterparts with rich flavours of dried fruit, toffee, biscuit and spice. This version was brewed with copious amounts of dried fig to symbolise Satan's temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. It was added to reinforce the natural rich fruit character with added depth and complexity. The Fall is sweet through the mid palate but finishing dry and clean to enhance the drinkability.
COLLABORATOR // Maltkult is the highly skilled brewing consultant Mike Cheer. Mike might be the best brewer you’ve never heard of. Having cut his teeth at the likes of Harrington’s and spent time at perfectionist contract facility Steam he has a legendary reputation in the beer industry for his technical knowledge and precision. He has consulted internationally and was recently brewing at Volstead in Christchurch. Outside of beer his reputation on the Christchurch Metal scene is equally as prodigious.
